Vicious vegetation

This tree, the one that belongs to our neighbour ....

...now looks like this. You must be wondering where all that yellow went.

Here. All over the roofs, all over the garden, all over the paths.

Next it will start on the big black bean things, and drop them all over the roofs, all over the garden, all over the paths. All winter long.

If you don't catch them, next spring they sprout into a forest of little trees, all with their own little leaves, and their own black beans - and very, very sharp and vicious thorns.

It's such a good thing it looks pretty for one week in the autumn.

  3. Yes Dragonstar, it's an acacia. And it's HUGE.

Elaine, I have to say I thought that too when I wrote it, though I couldn't remember which toothpaste.

  7. @Solomon, no, though I can see why you say that. It's acacia, or so I believe.

  8. I had to laugh, because it's a good thing my next door neighbor doesn't blog or she might do a post just like this one. In my case, I have an oak tree and a pecan tree that drop loads of leaves and nuts on my neighbor's yards. However, I usually rake most of the leaves from their yard to mine to be nice although they have to deal with the roof themselves. I know it is annoying to have to deal with that but I love trees so much.

  9. lol if only there were a way to glue the leaves to the trees in the fall ;) Our pretty leaves last until the next wind storm, which here is about every other day.

  11. @Carver, it's a shame you don't live next to me then :). In actual fact, before we even moved in, our neighbours apologised in advance. We didn't appreciate the full importance of what they were saying unfortunately. We do now.
@Leigh, it's such a shame the colours don't last longer.Someone needs to develop that glue.
@Lilly, I don't believe they do any maintenance, just sweep up after it!

  12. I dislike sweeping the leaves! My neighbours have 3 trees and I have to sweep their leaves.... when they flew into my yard and garden.
