Dona nobis pacem 2008

How To Get Your Peace Globe

It is approaching 90 years since the Great War ended, the world's first "total war", a global war.  The casualties and loss of life were staggering.  For years after many thought it was the war to end all wars.

And then came World War II.

Across the world today, millions of people are still caught up in wars.  There are six conflicts currently causing more than 1000 deaths a year according to the UN classification.  There are many more smaller conflicts, see Bruno Picozzi's Pro-Peace Initiative.  The lesson has not yet been learnt.

Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.

Great post. It's really quite unbelievable that the lesson not is learned - and we are supposed to be intelligent humans...?

Great post! I went in another direction for my November globe this time but the quote from Buddha that you picked is the one I used for my June peace globe. Dona Nobis Pacem

You are so right. The lesson has not been learned at all. Peace to you and yours. :)

I hope the lesson is being learned by those in power even now.

Peace to you,

A, I only hope and pray that our new President really looks at what we as a nation can do to help those who have no voice to ask for it.
