The aftermath of a flood in spring 2008.
Last spring the river flooded but the aftermath remains. Even by June signs were still there with debris which had been caught in the overhead cable still in place.
In October a tree was still stuck on the weir where it had come to rest after floating downstream.
And yesterday, almost nine months later, the aftermath of two events - the tree, which had fallen gradually into the river after the flood loosened the bank, now showing the aftermath of the recent snow storm too.

Great photos and a good take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteSuch a powerful force, water. My post shows it too.
ReplyDelete...but, that snow scene is so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGreat take. Thanks for the visit. Happy hunting.
I realize that you're showing storm damage. Still have to say that the third photo looks very beautiful indeed.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots showing the power of Mother Nature! They are lovely :-)
ReplyDeleteNever underestimate the power of flood waters. I love the winter photo, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIf you have time my photo hunt is here:
Here's mine.
That last photo is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been quite a flood, to leave debris up on the cable like that.
What great photos for this week - love the last one.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend.
Water sure can cause a lot of damage. It is amazing how high up the water must have gone!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a great way to show the journey of the fallen tree. :)

I have lived through many a hurricane, having been born and raised in eastern North Carolina.
ReplyDeleteAnd Hurricane Floyd caused quite a bit of damage in 1999.
When i go back home to visit my mother, I still see reminders of that hurricane.
Dramatic photos of the tree and the sheer force of the water. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteNice shots of the aftermath of a storm.
ReplyDeleteThose are great shots for the theme. Storm damage does create quite an aftermath.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing the responding for Snap2 this weekend and I realized I may have been wrong about what Sabine's shot was after reading the comments. We hadn't talked about it but I thought I knew what it was. I'll have to ask her and see if I was wrong (she's at a horse show this weekend which is why I didn't go ahead and email before saying what it was).
Thanks for visiting us and also for visiting my post at Carver's Sight.
The scary aftermath of storms and floods. I have yet to experience these. I'm lucky.
ReplyDeleteThat was a powerful flood. There seem to have been more and more of them in England in recent years
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, some thieving people steal shots, like the last one, and put it on their wallpaper changer to brighten up their screen!
ReplyDeleteTsk!
Excellent contribution.
ReplyDeleteSee you Hat(s) tomorrow?
ps. I've started with hats on Chimneys to day
