I'm very fond of bridges, I'm not sure why, so today I was spoilt for choice. I could have given you bridges of all sorts from all sorts of places, old or new, near or far, and that's before any thought of alternative interpretations. I've been strong though, and restricted myself to two, both from France.
This first one I saw on holiday in the south of France. I liked the way it emerged from the bamboos at the side of the river, and that there was a similarity of colour but a contrast of form.
This next bridge is close to home, and one that often appears in my photos. Here you can see yet another bridge, a disused railway line, through the arch of the first. I took this very recently as the sun was going down.

Beautiful! he second shot is exquisite!
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice for the theme! Wonderful, although very difficult architecture.
ReplyDeleteBridges fascinates me too, Like bridging the gap and close opsticles :-)
great choices!:-)
ReplyDeleteThe second photo really caught my eye, how the arches and the reflections in the water make it a complete circle. Great photos.
ReplyDelete@jams, thanks!
ReplyDelete@Renny, yes, there are all sorts of symbolisms in bridges, and all of them appeal to me.
@Nelly, thanks too.
@KISSEDALOTATOADS, yes I think it;s because of the reflections that I like the bridge so much, that it makes a perfect circle. Most arches aren't that shape.
I ♥ the last one! The reflection makes it a complete circle!!!
ReplyDeleteCome on over and see my bridge photo[s]. Two photos, but one bridge.
Happy Hunting.
Both images are very well done, but the second one is especially striking. I love the reflection in the water that almost creates complete circles out of the arches. That would look great framed over a mantle.
ReplyDeleteMy interpretation has two bridges in it too, but they are diffent kinds of bridges. :0)
Both are wonderful photos -- and re that bridge near your home: if I lived near it, definitely would take lots of photos of it too! :)
ReplyDeleteBridges can be really beautiful, apart from their necessary functionality.
ReplyDeleteBridges like that first one you show have so many lines and angles, and I can't resist them!
Your second is sheer beauty. I love so much about it. The reflected arches are wonderful, and I like the way the view of the more distant bridge is echoed (in a way) by the foreground chain.
Yes, you're right about the handrail of my bridge falling short. The slope is steeper on the far side, which was the way I approached it first, and the path was slippery. I only just made it to the handrail!
Today is turning out to be quite a travelogue! Thanks for your contribution :-)
ReplyDeleteBridges can be a great subject for photo shoot, especially when you're traveling in other places. You've got really great bridges there, nice pics. Here's mine http://www.mirasblog.com/2009/02/photo-hunt-6-bridge.html
ReplyDeleteI really like the second shot! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovley bridge, like poetry for the soul..
Mine is up to! :)
Have a great weekend!
I like the second one looks cute bridge. Happy weekend.

ReplyDeleteVery nice! I had a large selection to choose from also :-)
ReplyDeleteWow - that second shot is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend.
Lovely angle shots on both bridges. As nearly everyone else has mentioned, the complete circles are unusual. And is that another bridge behind?
ReplyDeletethat is a great shot of the giant circles/bridge reflection.
ReplyDeleteThey are both great but I just love that bottom one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place, and the second shot made me dizzy for a sec. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteI love the second photo most. the reflection on the water is so beautiful combined with the bamboo tree.
ReplyDeleteBlue sky and sunshine, lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love walking old railways!
Beautiful shots! The second one is just stunning.
ReplyDeleteBoth were fantastic bridges! I love the reflection on the water of the second bridge! My hunt is up please come and visit
ReplyDeleteGreat bridges - I just love the lastone! Really beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice evening :)
Those are both beautiful bridges and I like how you showed us such different ones. The one near your house is one I would enjoy being able to see regularly like you do.
ReplyDeleteOh my they are both very beautiful. But, the one close to your house is simply magical. Oh my what a peaceful shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by to see mine. I slove yours!!:-)
When I look at bridges I always think of two things being connected where once they were divided. Don't you? These are beautiful. We need more bridges in the world.
ReplyDeleteBoth are very nice but I love the second one. It is so nice how the reflection is able to capture the full arc and make it a circle.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices for the bridge theme. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI see bridges in your posts and they are all lovely. You see such natural beauty around you while I have to content with concrete jungle.
ReplyDeleteMy first time here. Apart from its look, its purpose means a lot. Dropped my card too. ;)

These are fantastic. The second photo is stunning! Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat second one is cool. I just put a bridge pic up yesterday on northcountrytrailnews.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments. As Relax Max says, we need more bridges in the world, connecting things that were once divided - and people too, perhaps especially people.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful but the second one exquisite. I love bridges too. I think that they give us a feeling of connection and bringing people together.
ReplyDeleteBridges in Europe are so artful, much more lovely than the ugly industrious ones here in the northeastern United States. Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely shots! I'm captivated by the second one.
