An alternative view
Entering this small town, you follow a boring and somewhat scruffy road. What you can't see is.......
... that these houses look very different on the other side. I took this photo from.....
...the pathway that runs along the ends of their gardens, and.....
.... alongside the river. A boring street, a placid river: which is the front view and which the back?
Go to Small Town Snapshot Sunday to join in and find more small town shots.

I guess... the first is the front.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the street is the back. I love "path" shots. Especially when they look like they are "secret" paths.
ReplyDeleteThat just made me think of something I want to shoot for a future small town snapshot sunday! See, you've inspired me. There is a tiny little family cemetery from the 1800s that someone is restoring (for America that is pretty old). You have to get there by a secret path. It's lovely and creepy all at once. I'll try to do that soon!
Thanks for joining in today, by the way!
A what a beautiful setting. Reminds me of why I enjoy certain area's of France so much.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call the first view boring but those houses look way bigger in the second photo than I'd have thought from just viewing the first shot! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the path, the river, the bridge!
ReplyDeleteThe secret path. There is always a secret path... :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really great! I would say that there is no front or back, they are both the front. After all, they both present two totally different but engaging things - the street probably has shops and general socialization and day-life and the fields and gardens have relaxation and privacy.
ReplyDeleteWhat nice 'hidden' pearls :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments. Yes, the front of the house is technically on the road but I'm sure the houses are arranged so that the occupants live facing the river. Hidden, secret gems. Each house seems to transform, going from one side to the other, rather like a Tardis, for any Dr Who fans.
ReplyDeleteGood idea to live away from the road.
ReplyDeleteEspecially with a decent 'natural' view.
