Three

Everything comes in threes, or so they say.  Not when you're looking for photos to illustrate it, they don't.  But enough do, and there is something very satisfying to the eye about a group of three.  That of course should mean that I post three photos, so I'll start off with one from Bourges Cathedral.

These are three stained glass windows from the cathedral.  Most of the windows date from about 1215.

I can never resist the gulls on the beach.  "When shall we three meet again?  In thunder, lightning or in rain?"

And finally, three flowers on the pot plant I bought the other day.  I'm sure I should know the name of the plant, but I don't.

Three photos with nothing to link them other than the number three, this week's theme.  If you'd like to join in the PhotoHunt, and find other other players, pay a visit to TNchick's site where you can find out more.

  1. I went for three photos this week too... but three very different photos from yours. Re your first: stain glass often is so beautiful but so difficult to show well in a photo, isn't it? Nice try on your part though! :)

  2. YTSL, yes stained glass always defeats me. In fact while I was composing this post, I decided I'd be better limiting myself to close-up shots. Even then, the colour reproduction isn't all it should be.

  4. Beautiful photos. I like the fact that you have chosen images from human-culture (the cathedral windows), the animal kingdom (the sea birds) and from the world of plants (the lovely pink flowers), and each photo contains three of each item! Very nice! And pretty to behold.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my three cats. Sara says that if you can transform yourself to the size of a kitten you are welcome to snuggle up with her in her igloo. Otherwise you can do what I usually do and just let her lay on my chest when I am tucked under the covers. (The downy coverlet helps protect me from her very sharp claws when she kneads and stamps on me before settling down.)

  18. i noticed that, too- churches tend to have three panels of stained glass windows behind the altar, at least the classically designed ones... i wonder if its a religious symbol...

  19. While working on the ward in the Royal infirmary some years ago two patients died.
The nurses, being women I suppose, immediately began saying, "Everything comes in threes!"
The men, in the all male ward, were quick to indicate "NO it doesn't!"

  26. When the hurlyburly's done, when the battle's lost and won.

I think I would have preferred a hurdy gurdy done.

Broken hurdy gurdys should come in threes.

  27. I have always have a weakness for stained glass. It's so beautiful! I would love to have stained glass windows installed in my house but they are very costly.

P.S. I greatly admired your post and thoughts on the obituary. I often tell my children that I want a line from A Mighty Fortess included in mine!
