You see fields of sunflowers all over France, but I always associate them with the Loire Valley area. I love the sight of a full field in bloom and it's fascinating to watch the heads all turn together towards the sunlight. The French for sunflower is tournesol - turn [to the] sun.
Every year we leave France at the end of June/beginning of July and return in early September. We always miss the best of the sunflowers, so here is my very own sunflower.
It's Doodle Week, and today the subject is sunflower.
Sunflowers are beautiful things. They always seem so "sunny". They're very aptly named.
ReplyDeleteOne summer there was a field of sunflowers in a town near here. Tons of people were stopping to take pictures of themselves in the field. Maybe that's why they didn't plant them again. A shame cause they really were glorious (sounds silly but that's the word that comes to mind). I would like to see them as you described in France.
ReplyDeleteYou did a terrific doodle of a sunflower and I would love to see those sunflowers in France!
ReplyDeleteSo bright and pretty.
ReplyDeleteCute doodle!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers especially a whole field of them! A very pretty sight.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a pretty doodle. :)
Thanks everyone and having seen all the other entries, you are being very kind :) I think that will be my last entry, yet again. I haven't the time to devote to making anything more creative and exotic as you all seem to do.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww.....keep Doodling. Tours is very nice and ours are very basic, but it's fun! The flowers in France sound lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour FL furiends,
Oh Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOhh, all right then :) You've persuaded me!
ReplyDeleteEvery morning I try to go out for a little run out in the country side. The past couple of weeks I have seen hundreds of sunflowers growing as tall as I, and I run through them along with the jackrabbits and the sheep to keep me company. As the sun rises, the flowers turn their faces to greet it. Yours is very beautiful as well. :)
ReplyDeleteYour sunflowers are so tall? The ones in France barely reach my shoulder when grown as a crop.
