Splashes of colour

A beautiful sunny morning invited me out for a walk.

Some of the trees are starting to show some spring colour.

Splashes of colour on the river banks.

If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.  ~Audra Foveo

A drift of wild violets.

The splendour of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness. ~Therese of Lisieux

Buds bursting.

A recently pollarded tree puts its arms up in surrender.

People are anticipating warmer weather.

And the river is looking beautiful.

Every spring is the only spring - a perpetual astonishment.  ~Ellis Peters

  2. I like your final quote, Ellis Peters, one of my favourite authors I was so upset when she died as I knew she would have written more books which were lost with her.

Beautiful scenes of spring.. can't be too far away now for us.

  4. @Mike, yes there is something extra special about spring. Each season has something to offer, but somehow the beginning of spring does wonders for me. I'd miss it too.

@Sage, she was an incredible author. So much more than just the Caedfel books.

@Madeira, yes, sometimes it does go very still. Not so much today, so I'm glad I went when I did.

  10. As usual your photographs take me there. Breathtaking. I know people are tired of winter, but seeing the earth just waking from hibernation is a wonder unto itself. Well done as always.

  20. What beautiful spring photos! Your water scenes especially grab me. If I let my imagination wander, they could go back a century or more ago.

I miss living where there is spring weather. But I do try and get to the UK where they have trees so beautiful, they look like a bit of Merlin's magic was involved.
