Garden jewels

Pearls - my favourite.
By her who in June was born
No gem save pearls shall be worn
They will ensure her constancy
True friendship and fidelity.

Amethyst.
The February born shall find
Sincerity and peace of mind,
Freedom from passion and from care,
If they, the amethyst will wear.

The glowing Ruby should adorn
Those who in warm July are born,
Then will they be exempt and free
From love's doubt and anxiety

I'm loving the start of the seasons of flowers, but also the start of the annual dilemma. Should I cut the flowers and bring them into the house to have some garden indoors, or leave them in the garden where they will last longer? Ideally there would be enough for both, but it never seems to work out that way.

And has anyone ever noticed that tulips continue to grow after being cut? Whenever I cut them all to a similar length and pop them in a jug, the next day I find without fail that one or two will be longer than the rest. It seems to happen only with tulips.

  3. Tulip is my favorite flower. It is interesting to learn that tulip continues to grow after being cut. I would never have known that since I don't have a garden of them in my house. It will be nice to have some flowers in the house to liven things up.

  4. The only answer is to grow twice as many flowers!
I love this time of year for the variety of flowers showing up everywhere!

  5. Wonderful flowers photos and words as well.

There is something very special with Tulips (orginates from Turkey):
The first know Financial Crises in the World:
The Tulips onion were split up and sold in an amount higher that could possible be delivered.
People who had bought all those split up oniens beforehand went broke, of course.
People seems to forget, do not sell or buy "air-castels".

  6. @Solomon, I'm really pleased with the colours. They've turned out well.

@Mike, thanks. Coming from a photographer like you, I do appreciate that.

@BK, I'm not sure what happens with the tulips, it's odd. It doesn't seem to happen all the time. You're right, it does brighten the place up to have flowers around.

@Adullamite, we have the tiniest garden so growing more is difficult. :) Agreed that it would be the best solution.

  7. Beautiful and collarful sign of spring. It make me so happy to see this wonderful flowers.

I think you should let them stay and enjoy them in their natural surroundings :-)

    Happy Easter A.

  8. The flowers are lovely! I wish I had more in my yard, but my husband likes to mow over them. :)

I finally figured out a solution though...the daffodils bloom and die in the week or two before we have to start mowing. So all I have to do now is plant the bulbs all over the yard and watch him look horrified when they start coming up in all the places where he normally mows. MUAHAHAHAHA!
