First an apology for not having gone on the rounds commenting last week. I'm afraid I ran out of time.
Skinny has proved to be another challenge but here are few examples of things I have decided may just fit from our recent holiday.
On our way we stopped at an "aire de repos" which was dedicated to the wind. It had some wonderful views and the very strong wind was being converted into energy by the surrounding skinny wind turbines. I have to say they make quite a high-pitched whine.
We went to the Ile de Ré, which is just off mainland France, reached from La Rochelle by this skinny 2 kilometre (1.25 miles) bridge. In fact it's a very substantial bridge!
On our arrival in St Martin de Ré we walked around enjoying the views of the harbour with all the yachts moored, no sails in place, just skinny masts.

All great photos. We were in the La Rochelle area this past summer and loved it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend.
Wow, wind farms! I haven't seen those in real life. As in really. Nice turbines.
ReplyDeletewow! i don't think i can drive in that bridge.. hmm...
ReplyDeletebtw, just joined the fun and my first PH post is on :)
I, see, that, like me, you decided to focus on inanimate objects... Very nice pictures, especially of that perhaps not-so-skinny-in-real-life bridge! :)
ReplyDeleteTerrific photos from your holiday! Looks like you had a lovely time!
ReplyDeleteAh, skinny masts yes and it does look like you had a nice weather too - comparing to how it is over here! I'd have loved to take a stroll there.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite a big fan of wind turbines as not only are they useful but I think they look quite sculptural and don't think of them as a blot on the landscape.
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark
I love the bridge picture - it looks so fragile!
ReplyDeleteThe wind-tubines and the masts make me cross - WHY didn't I think of them? (LOL)
Those are beautiful photographs and work well with the theme.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, I also had difficulties to find something for "skinny" !
ReplyDeleteSorry I forgot to tell you that I take the cruisers to the Ice Sculpture Exposition in Brugge (Belgium) today.
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos. We have wind turbines in one part of our country but haven't seen them in person yet.
ReplyDeleteA great variations on the theme! Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!

It makes a long time I think to visit one day L'île de Ré! I'm impresse by this bridge. Don't forget our middle age costum to visit the Popes's Palace!
ReplyDeleteIle de Re , un fois c'etait nos isle favourite en France.
ReplyDeleteWhen the kids were young. First time over with the old Ferry. Last time over the Bridge.
Later on we went to Oleron, due to the fact it was easier to rent large villas for two families. But I still love la Rochelle and the Islands.
